Windows Mobile 6.5 could come in second half of 2009

By Shawn Farner | Wednesday, January 21, 2009

The low-down from a few Taiwanese handset makers is that Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5 could be coming in the second half of this year.  Word also has it Microsoft plans to reveal some information about the new mobile OS next month at the Mobile World Conference.

If you’ll be in the market for a new smartphone within the next year, you’re in a pretty enviable spot.  We already have the iPhone and the G1, Palm is coming out with the Pre and there will undoubtedly be more devices announced at some point.  As Chris Berman would say, it’s “a fantasy delight”.  Except replace “fantasy” with “smartphone”.

Will Windows Mobile 6.5 deliver?  We might get a chance to see next month at the Mobile World Conference, if we’re lucky.
