Job cuts are underway in Redmond, WA, where Microsoft has delivered permanent blue screens of death to 1,400 employees today.  Another 3,600 will be out of work over the next 18 months.  The job cuts come after Microsoft reported an 11% drop in net income for the fiscal second quarter.

One bright spot for Microsoft – they experienced growth of 3.5% in the entertainment and devices division.  It is not known at this time whether or not the job cuts will affect the company’s Xbox 360 division.
