Xbox 360 Elite to Ship With Halo 3 and Fable 2

I bought my first xbox 360 in August of 2007.  It was the 20GB version, came with no game, and, within two months of my purchase, Microsoft announced a $50 price drop.

When that console broke (for the second time) a month ago, I used my warranty to exchange it for the RE5 special edition red elite.  Although it looked awesome, it froze constantly and led to me exchange THAT console for the regular black elite which came with Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda.

Now, two weeks after that exchange, Microsoft has announced that new elites will now ship with Halo 3 and Fable 2, worth considerably more than games featuring lego and panda characters.

While I apparently have no luck when it comes to timing a new console purchase, I have to applaud Microsoft for finally including decent games in its standard elite bundle.  Perhaps Nintendo set the bar to high by including Super Mario Brothers in its NES package, but even they have stumbled in this area recently by only including the somewhat overrated and extremely gimmicky Wii Sports when, at this point, they could easily include Mario Galaxy in their Wii package as well.

At least Microsoft seems to be attempting to reverse this trend by offering signature games with their system.  Although shouldn’t that be expected when one is asked to fork out $400 for a new console?

On a sidenote, it really speaks wonders for the game exclusivity, fluidity of xbox live, controller feel, and overall greatness of the xbox 360 that suckers like me will repeatedly buy a product that we full-well expect to break within a year.
