LOL, wow you have definitely been there my friend! I work as an IT professional, and I hear you on every one of your "don't get me started" 's ...

I would like to point out to the world one additional thing. I have discovered that Avast www.avast.com is very good ad removing the conflickr bug, and pretty much anything out there. And its totaly free... Go get it. -or- AVG, another good one. I kinda prefer avast over all the rest for the simple reason its fool proof. Also it has the ability to run a boot time scan before the virus can be in 'awake' mode. ( before windows starts ) And its FREE ! so you have no excuse. scan your computers ! you fools ! you will infect us all !!! :- )

-me

The impacts of Conficker will continue for some time. Conficker is hands down the most complex and thoughtfully designed worm in the history of the Internet. It is going to be extremely tough to stop it. I am hoping the author of Conficker slips up or makes a mistake, letting the white hats gain and upper hand. However, that seems unlikely.

I found it interesting though that many blame Russia and China while the UK is being exempt from the attacks by Conficker. Filtering UK ip addresses would leave me to believe the authors live in the UK. But is that just a smoke screen? Can't say for sure because of their 128-bit encrypted digital signatures on the packets.

While I don't agree with the motive, Conficker is an impressive piece of technology far from any script kiddie.

[...] So far there are not too many significant reports of infected machines and hijacked data, but it may be too early to feel so smug about it. The worm’s real danger is its demonstrated ability to evade the expensive IDS technology [...]
