According to the video game wizards at 1Up, it looks like Sony’s planning to drop a new version of the PSP on us this Fall. The device, which may or may not be called the PSP Go! on launch, will be a revision of the original PSP – the UMD slot will be banished forever and each device will pack either 8GB or 16GB of flash memory.
Since there’s no UMD slot, users will likely buy and download games online. The removal of the slot altogether seems somewhat puzzling – it’s akin to revising the PS3 and not including the Blu Ray drive. What about those who already bought games on physical media? Is there some kind of way to download games you already own or are you left in the dust?
We’ll have more news on the PSP Go! as it becomes available.
