Nikon S630 Blink Detection FailThis is a tad bit unfortunate.

The Nikon S630 features built-in blink detection, which alerts you if it believes that someone in your photo blinked.  As you can see here, this girl did not blink.  She’s just Asian.

Gizmodo’s Odelia Lee said it best:

“I know this Nikon S630 is just trying to be helpful, but a little tact wouldn’t hurt. Some people’s eyes [are] just extra squinty when they smile, OK, camera?

Back to the drawing board, Nikon.  Back to the drawing board.

Grandpa’s Firefork is Genius, Possibly Overkill

fire-stick-prong I am sure the camping purists out there will eschew camping with fancy gizmos like the “Grandpa’s Firefork” or “Recreational Vehicles” with “Air Conditioning”  But for the family camper, the firefork could really help the experience for the wee ones.

Slide off the protective cover to reveal two prongs and put the gizmo on the end of little Johnny’s lichen covered stick.  Tension between the two top rings hold the contraption in place.  Put a hot dog or marshmallows on the prongs and we are ready.

Now little Johnny can roast to his hearts content without dropping 3 hot dogs into the fire. About $15 for a 4-pack.
