Breathe New Life into that Old Laptop.

laptop cf card adapterDo you have an old laptop with a dead hard drive?  Instead of buying a new traditional hard disk drive, or spending a small fortune on a solid state drive, you can build your own solid state drive for less.  If you already have some old compact flash cards, all you need to buy is the Dual-Slots CF HDD Adapter from Addonics.

If you want a little quicker performance, you can also pick up a few new super-fast CF cards.  For under $100 you can build a 16GB SSD with reasonably good performance. For around $200 you could bump up to 64GB.  Your old laptop will be quieter, cooler, and use less energy.  SSDs are also typically faster than disc based drives, but not always.  This adapter is PATA (micro IDE), not SATA.
