Amazon’s Kindle DX: Press conference coming this morning

By Shawn Farner | Tuesday, May 5, 2009

Amazon Kindle DXToday at 10:30 am EST (in just about nine and a half hours), Amazon is expected to unveil their newest ebook reader, rumored to be called the Kindle DX.

This could be an historic day.  The new Kindle has apparently been built with traditional print media – newspapers and magazines – in mind.  However, saving print publications is a mighty task, one Amazon may not be able to reach on its own.  Years from now, we may look back on this day as the day the old media outlets were saved.  Or we may look back on this product launch as just another in a long list.

Keep your eyes on gizHQ throughout the day as the Kindle DX is introduced to the world.  We’ll break the device down and let you decide – will it be the Superman the newspapers and magazines need?

If you’d like to learn more about the device before the entire world sees it, PC World has put together a great primer.  I suggest you check it out.
