Nokia has added yet another contestant to race for smartphone domination: the Nokia E52. The device is powered by the Symbian mobile OS and features a 240×320 pixel screen, 3G, Edge and WiFi connectivity and a GPS chip.
From what we understand, the E52 will likely ship to Europe first (second half of 2009) and other locations after. Will this phone ever see the light of day in the U.S.? It’s a possibility, though the lack of a full QWERTY keyboard is a little off-putting. For a phone aimed at on-the-go business professionals, the standard phone keypad seems like a strange design choice.
The E52 will cost around $325. Carriers are bound to cover some of that, though we don’t know which carriers those might be at the moment. We’ll have more on the E52 as news becomes available.
