bb-8520 If you’re not familiar with the Gemini, check out a previous post that details it’s first public sighting. I’ll wait.

Recent news on the Gemini indicates that T-Mobile USA will be the winner in the carrier sweepstakes, with the phone set for release in Q4. The price has yet to be set, but there are a few eBay pre-release sales, with current bids well over $500 for an unlocked version of the BB 8520.

The price seems steep, especially considering the device is aiming to fill the low-cost/emerging market segment, but sales should be solid regardless. The quicker, and cheaper, RIM can put a Blackberry like this in everyone’s hands, the better, especially with the possibility that the Iphone will soon be released via carriers other than AT&T.

I'm am so sick of T-mobile getting the new releases especially when they have the worse service. I had them for a year and switched back to verizon because I couldn't take it anymore. Verizon and AT&T need to step it up! Come on guys are you really going to let T-Mobile beat you for the best phones GET WITH IT!! ugh This is so frustrating!

Abby, many people might be inclined to agree with you in the sense that T-Mobile gets a few good releases (i.e. the BB8900, Gemini), but keep in mind the phones on the other carriers that they are competing against. For example, AT&T has the iPhone, while Verizon carries the Storm and a few Curves and Pearls.

Research in Motion (RIM) also has a lot to do with where the releases go, obviously. If they put a new phone, say in AT&T's hands, how well do you think it will sell with that carrier against the iPhone? I would assume not as well as it could sell if T-Mobile could put it out. Finally, you must consider the financial aspect of this from the eyes of the carriers; it might not be entirely feasible for them to purchase the rights to the phone.
