As we reported yesterday, AT&T has introduced an iPhone app called myWireless Mobile. The app allows you to keep track of your usage and pay your bill. Frankly, myWireless Mobile was a long time coming. So long, in fact, that another app called Cell Minute Tracker came along to fill the void. Priced at $0.99, the app provided similar functionality to the one AT&T just released.
Now that AT&T’s app is in the wild, we were curious – where does that leave PageOnce, the makers of Cell Minute Tracker? We emailed PageOnce CEO Guy Goldstein to find out more. He let us know that, as of today, Cell Minute Tracker is now available free from the App Store. He also touted several advantages that he believes Cell Minute Tracker holds over AT&T’s app:
-No need to login every time with a password. Can use 4 digit pass code for security and convenience
-Navigation and user interface is more convenient
-We alert users when bill is due and when they are close to their limit use of minutes, data and SMS
Mr. Goldstein also clued us in to a new feature that will be making its way to version 1.2: email alerts for usage. We presume this means that, when you get close to or go over your available minutes, messages or data, you’ll receive an email to let you know. That is a pretty cool feature but it doesn’t change the fact that PageOnce still faces an uphill climb now that AT&T has an official iPhone app in the store.
