Come Christmastime, Santa might be packing more than toys and candy into his sleigh – he might be delivering copies of Windows 7, as well.
After keeping quiet about a potential Windows 7 release date, Microsoft has finally admitted that their new operating system will be available this year – the fourth quarter, to be exact. Bill Veghte, senior VP of Windows, believes that Windows 7 is “tracking well for holiday availability.” This meshes well with Acer’s belief that they will begin selling Windows 7-powered laptops on October 23, 2009.
An exact date isn’t known at this time and things can always change – remember the Vista delays? But if Microsoft has their act together and testing on Windows 7 continues to go smoothly, we could have our hands on the new OS by the time we ring in 2010.
