If you’re looking to pick up the most inexpensive netbook possible, I suggest you put that Acer Aspire One back on the shelf. Dell has priced its soon-to-be-released Mini 10v pretty darn low – $299. This means that Acer’s long-time king of cheap netbooks has been relieved of its throne. $349 has now become pricey in the netbook world. Who would’ve thought?
The Mini 10v offers a setup much like the Aspire One’s: Intel Atom processor, 1 GB of RAM and a 120 GB hard drive. You can choose either Windows XP or Ubuntu Linux. Strangely enough, the Linux option doesn’t reduce the price. We suggest that you get the Windows XP version even if you want Ubuntu. You can always install Ubuntu on your own and you’ll have an XP license, just in case.
The Dell Mini 10v should drop on June 2. Will Acer make some price adjustments on their Aspire One line? We’ll see.
