Dell gearing up for iPod Touch Market Entrenchment.

By admin | Tuesday, June 30, 2009

dell-logoWall Street Journal reported that Dell is developing a MID (Mobile Internet Device), a gadget that will play music, videos like a Portable Media Player but also can goes online in a Google Android mobile operating system. Most will say that Dell is going after the iPod Touch market but that is just “too obvious” . What we think is that they simply want to diversify their product lines and create more value for their brand.

This is not Dell 1st attempt to break into the consumer gadget market, they had tried without much success with its DJ Ditty music player or the Axim PDAs. Their latest heard project is in the mobile phone project but it’s prototype have been rejected by wireless networks operators as their design were “not so astonishing”

Why can’t  Dell just do what they do best at—- creating a Simple, No Nonsense, Robust and affordable product. Well, we had seen too many “trying to be ” cool Gadget that ended up with look alike? But at least we know that this time round, Dell had embrace the market, they did not rely on their in-house software but using the Google Android OS instead.
